Performance Specs
The gas engine is equipped with extra-large main bearings, variable-displacement oil pump, piston cooling jets and forged steel crankshaft. This setup allows the 7.3-litre V8 engine to control its temperature while handling heavy loads.
The diesel engine has outstanding durability, braving a simulated customer driving test of 800,000km. The turbocharger is placed between the top of the block and the cylinder heads with an exclusive inverse-flow design. Additionally, it comes from the factory with driver-activated engine exhaust braking, providing smooth braking and reducing brake wear.
Both engines can have a Ford TorqueShift heavy-duty 10-speed automatic transmission, with features like SelectShift, Tow/Haul, and PTO (Power Take-Off). Such features help drivers select gear ranges and improve gear shifts on uphills and downhills. The Ford TorqueShift is standard for the diesel engine and optional for the gas engine.
